This is romance: On Dangerous Ground (1952)

Sometimes a connection with another person comes unexpectedly, as it does in On Dangerous Ground (1952), directed by Nicholas Ray. A blind woman, Mary Malden (Ida Lupino) finds herself at bay when a city cop with a bad attitude, Jim Wilson (Robert Ryan), arrives on her doorstep while hunting down her brother with the grief-crazed father determined to mete out justice. In this beautifully acted scene, underscored by Bernard Herrmann's plaintive score and Virginia Majewski's exquisite viola work, two lonely people circle one another, tentatively getting to know something about the other.
