Violent Saturday (1955): "Reality Disturbs the Peace"

Violent Saturday (1955) is, I suspect, one of those movies best seen in a theater, but you can see this visually dazzling movie occasionally on the Fox Movie Channel and, as of May, 2011, it is also on DVD via the relatively new label Twilight Time. Violent Saturday is presented in non-anamorphic widescreen, drawn from the masters provided by 20th Century Fox. Twilight Time decided that the fluid direction of Richard Fleischer, whose compositions, story telling, and actors, along with the vividness of the color and clarity of the sound in this movie made it worthwhile to transfer it to DVD, despite some softness in the image. The initial run of this 91 minute DVD is reportedly limited to 3,000 units only and is presented in a 4 x 3 Letterbox (Aspect Ratio: 2.35.1) with a track that features an isolated score by Hugo Friedhofer.
